Fallen But Forgiven

I learned something today. It wasn’t a new concept at all, just a concept that has been developing over time. Life is not about ME. It isn’t about ME getting ahead or being the best or lording it over anyone. The world screams this in most of our media and culture - especially here in America. But it is NOT supposed to be like this. Life is NOT about ME. 

Life, as God intended, is about OTHERS.

When Jesus came to earth to die for humanity, He wasn’t doing it because He wanted to be glorified and honored above all (although He is!), Jesus died out of love for OTHERS. You, me, and everyone you know and don’t know. He gave His life willingly out of love for all of humanity! Isn’t that powerful? Think about that for a second. Let it sink in. God showed His perfect love for US…. Lowly, sin-filled human beings….

He loves us THAT MUCH!!!  WOW!!!

And the fact that He bore all our sin and suffering and came out on the other side of the grave VICTORIOUS is beyond ALL of our human comprehension!!! What pure, unadulterated, perfect LOVE!!!!!!

After that sinks in, remember that we are to show OTHERS who He is. How so? Not by exalting ourselves; not by putting ourselves over our friends and family - but by loving and caring for others! JUST LIKE JESUS DID!!! I know we can never be perfect, but perfection isn’t the point. We are to show to others that He is in us and working through us.

Within love are so many other things. God loves us by laughing with us, crying with us, empathizing with us, smiling with us, and so on and so on! Why shouldn’t we do that for others around us? Care. We must care in order to show Jesus to others. That is very difficult to do, but I saw it happen today in a very deep way. If we let God work through us and we begin to put aside ourselves, we can begin to truly care. I know I am not perfect, but I know that this should be my and every Christ-follower’s goal. it is by this that we fullfill the Great Commission.

Thank You God for being LOVE for US!!!!!!!

I go to school at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, and I am a Music Education major with Trombone emphasis. I love being in school and being around my friends! There is something that has been bothering me this whole semester, though. I am soooo busy! I understand that this comes with the major - and that isn’t my problem. The problem is that I am seeing that the business of school is getting in the way of my relationship with God.

O God, creator of the universe, there is none like you! You are omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient! You are above all and it is so amazing that You love us with Your perfect love! Father, thank You for bringing me to the point that I am at in my life - I wouldn’t be here without You. God, I pray that You send Your Spirit to me and to this campus at Lee University and that You reveal Yourself more and more to us here. We want to know You more! I want to know You more, Father! You are beyond comprehension, Father, and I am in wonder of Your infinite grace and mercy and love. Thank You for giving me my next breath. Walk with me all day, every day, Father. I want to hear You and know You, God! You are wonderful! I love you, Father! Amen.
